Closing night opens with Austin filmmaker John La Costa’s award-winning short “Aiden and Dean Don’t Fall in Love,” a tender LGBTQ+ coming-of-age story about two best friends navigating the weight of unspoken feelings. La Costa is in attendance to share his film with the audience. Then experience “Wicket,” the award-winning documentary about legendary breakdancer Gabriel “Bboy Wicket” Jaochico. After 41 years in the closet, Gabriel confronts his past, his extraordinary legacy in hip-hop, and the transformative power of falling in lovewith an art form, another person, and ultimately himself. Stay after the film for a special live closing night Q&A with director Lily Plotkin, producer Ryland Hormel, and Gabriel “Bboy Wicket” Jaochico, all joining in person for this celebration.
